Suvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant shot dead in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas

Kolkata: BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant was shot dead by unidentified assailants in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, party sources said. They said the incident took place in Doharia in Madhyamgram district, where Chandranath Rath, who served as Adhikari’s executive assistant, was attacked on a public road.

It was stated that the person who was seriously injured during the fire was taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead. According to preliminary information, Rath was shot at from close range by malicious individuals who fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Earlier on Tuesday, four security personnel, including the Nazat Police Station OC and two CRPF personnel, were injured in violence in Sandeshkhali’s Nazat area. West Bengal DGP Siddh Nath Gupta said after the results were declared on Monday, cases of threats and intimidation were reported, 200 FIRs were registered and 433 people were arrested.

Gupta confirmed that two deaths were reported in connection with post-election violence, one in Nanoor and the other in Newtown. He said there had been no incidents of violence since Wednesday morning.

“Four arrests were made on Tuesday night and more arrests were made on Wednesday. The OC received information that some people had gathered in Nazat area and were about to attack people from another community. He sustained gunshot wounds. Five persons, including two policemen and two CRPF personnel, were injured,” Gupta said. he said.
