Swalwell accusers speak out on sexual misconduct allegations against lawmaker

D-Calif. Two women who accused Representative Eric Swalwell of sexual harassment described their experiences with the Democratic congressman, who announced his resignation amid the allegations.

Ally Sammarco and Annika Albrecht described their interactions with Swalwell in an interview on “CBS Mornings.” Albrecht spoke for the first time in the CBS interview, while Sammarco previously described his experience to CNN. bomb allegations It was reported by the San Francisco Chronicle on Friday.

Swalwell announced he would resign from Congress and ended his California gubernatorial campaign on Monday. He denied the allegations but acknowledged past mistakes.

Albrecht told CBS that Swalwell offered to “mentor” him and stay in touch after meeting the student group in D.C. in 2019. Albrecht said Swalwell created a group chat with all the students and added it to Snapchat.

“It finally got to a point where he invited me to a hotel to meet him. It was very clear what the connotation of that was. At that point I stopped responding altogether. I think about how lucky I was that I didn’t go to that hotel,” Albrecht said in the interview.

He said he had a similar experience after Sammarco sent Swalwell a supportive message on Twitter in 2021. He said she answered, surprising him.

Swalwell asked him if he was also on Snapchat and described one of the posts in detail.

“It started out professionally and platonically, and then gradually they got more open and asked me what I was wearing. Then one night he was traveling, lying on his bed in his hotel room, and then he sent me a photo of his penis,” she said.

CBS stated that they were shown text messages he sent to friends on Snapchats at the time. CBS reported that Albrecht reached out to fellow Democratic content creator Cheyenne Hunt, who was present during the interview, a few weeks ago and asked her to make a video about her experience.

Hunt revealed during the CBS interview that she was inundated with direct messages from other women with similar experiences.

“I immediately got DMs from other women saying I had a story to tell. That’s when I realized this was so much bigger than I thought we all knew,” she said during the interview.
