Syria to hold parliamentary elections on October 5

The State News Agency told you that Syria will hold its first parliamentary elections under the direction of the new Islamist ruler on October 5th.
The new parliament is expected to form the basis for a wider democratic process after the transfer of former President Bashar al -Assad last December following the about 14 -year civil war.
Critics say that there is not enough participation from the minority groups of the existing system.
In addition, it will be assigned by the approval of the legislation aimed at relaying economic policies under the control of decimal states and to ratify the treaties that can reshape Syria’s foreign policy alliances.
Although the Election Commission said last month that the vote will be postponed in three provinces due to security concerns, voting for the 210 -member People’s Assembly will take place in all election zones.
One third of the People’s Assembly seats will be appointed by President Ahmed Al-Sharaa.
Syria said that an election would initially take place in September, and in Sweida – in July, the scene of conflicts between the Drze fighters and the Sunni Bedouin tribes in July, and the vote in the states of Hasaka and Raqqa, which were partially controlled by Kurdish Syrian democratic equipment.
In March, Syria issued a constitutional statement to guide the temporary period under the leadership of Sharaa.
While the document guarantees women’s rights and freedom of expression, it remains a central role for Islamic law.
However, it increased concerns about the power intensification between the country’s leadership of Islamist leadership.
