Coca-Cola sues Vue after cinema chain switches to Pepsi | Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola is taking legal action against Vue after the cinema chain switched to arch-rival PepsiCo as its soft drinks supplier in Europe.
Vue, which operates more than 90 cinemas in the UK and Ireland, put the contract out to tender last year.
In March 2025, Europe’s largest private cinema operator, with 222 properties in eight countries, chose PepsiCo as its business partner. single supplier until at least 2030.
The deal saw the end of an almost 25-year relationship between Vue and Coca-Cola.
On Thursday, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Great Britain (CCEP) launched legal proceedings against Vue Entertainment to recover debts allegedly outstanding when the contract was terminated.
Coca-Cola is also understood to have outstanding debts to Vue, which has not taken legal action regarding the amount.
Coca-Cola’s legal action was brought by Coltman Warner Cranston, a Coventry-based law firm specializing in debt collection.
Darren Davoile, who runs the practice, told the Guardian the company does not comment on customer activities.
Tim Richards, CEO and founder of Vue, said: “One would have expected that 25 years later a simple phone call for such a small sum could resolve a genuine dispute without the need for lawyers.”
Coca-Cola Great Britain did not respond to a request for comment.
PepsiCo has a portfolio that includes Pepsi Max, Mountain Dew, Lifewtr, Bubly sparkling water and Pure Leaf.
In 2020, Vue rival Cineworld also announced a deal to split from and use Coca-Cola. PepsiCo as a premium soft drink supplier.
