Airlines Delta and United sued for selling ‘window seats’ without windows

Delta Air Lines and United Airlines were sued by passengers who claimed that they had been charged extra for a window seat, but they found themselves sitting next to an empty wall.

Cases opened separately to US carriers are looking for millions of dollars for more than one million customers than each airline.

They said that they did not mark the seats that the seats were without windows during the reservation process even when paying a premium for them.

United refused to comment because it was an ongoing legal issue. BBC contacted Delta for a comment.

Similar cases seek extra fees for passengers who have paid for window seats, but instead of those with windows -free.

Both cases seen by the BBC were opened by the law firm Greenbaum Olbrantz.

Complaints, some Boeing and Airbus passenger aircraft air conditioning channels, cables or other components due to the positioning of windows, he said.

According to the court documents, these seats are not marked by Delta and United during the booking process.

Cases say that people buy a window seat for various reasons to deal with the fear of flight and movement, to engage children or to landscape.

According to the complaints, some passengers wouldn’t choose these seats – or they wouldn’t pay any more for them – or they wouldn’t pay any more for them.

Both airlines describe each seat as a “window seat” along the edges of their planes, even if they know that some are not next to a window.

Passengers can be charged to choose a window chair compared to a standard seat.

The lawyers representing each case described the application as “deceptive” and “illegal”.

Other carriers such as American Airlines and Alaska Airlines operate similar jets, but if a seat does not contain a window, they disclose it during the reservation process.
