The house is tied to the Hamlin family, according to property records. Hamlin is listed as a director of the real estate company that owns the house. The house belongs to his parents to WCNC-TV.

Fire officials said that the house became completely unusable because it took about two hours to extinguish the fire.

Hamlin is a decorated NASCAR driver. He has 60 Cup Series wins and recently came up short in his quest for a NASCAR championship.
