British girl, 3, dies two weeks after she was pulled from hotel pool on Greek island

A 3-year-old British girl who was taken unconscious from a swimming pool on a Greek island two weeks ago has died.
The girl was staying with her family at the hotel in Lardos on the island of Rhodes when the incident occurred on October 14.
According to local newspaper RodiakiCCTV footage revealed that the girl had been in the water for at least 10 minutes but could not see because she was under the inflatable balls.
It was reported that a British doctor staying at the same hotel noticed the girl and dived into the pool to save her.
He administered emergency first aid and the girl was taken to Rhodes Hospital, where an MRI showed severe brain swelling.
Hospital director Micalis Sokorelos told local media that the girl’s condition was “brain dead” at the time.
“The child was obviously in the water for a long time. He is not reacting at all,” he said.
The girl, whose name has not yet been released, died in a hospital in England on Sunday after being transferred to England for further treatment.

The girl’s death comes after a British brother and sister drowned at the beach while holidaying in Spain in August.
Ameiya and Ricardo Junior Del-Brocco, ages 13 and 11 respectively, had gone swimming with their father before they got into trouble in the water off Salou.
According to local media reports, children from Birmingham were dragged from the beach due to strong currents and died at the scene despite emergency intervention. Their father survived.
Aunt Kayla Jasvinder Del-Brocco he said BirminghamLive: “They went swimming with their father because they loved beaches so much.
“My mother said, ‘Don’t be late,’ and took her little child to the bathroom. When she came out, she couldn’t see anyone. That’s when the nightmare started.”
