Sharmila opposes TDP government’s “attempts to privatise” APSRTC

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president YS Sharmila on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, accused the TDP-led coalition government of pursuing policies that paved the way for privatization of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC).

He said the company has been transformed into a platform for rental buses. He said that electric buses should not be given to private operators and that APSRTC should purchase and own them itself. He demanded that the leasing of the company’s land and properties should be stopped and that the revision in the wages of the employees should be taken care of without delay.
