Want to help garden birds? Don’t feed them in warmer months, says RSPB

Industry body UK Pet Food estimates we spend around £380 million a year on birdseed. Separate figures show that it amounts to over 150,000 tonnes per year; enough to sustain three times the breeding populations of the ten most common garden species if they relied solely on it all year round.
