The Magpies had a fantastic day, securing a 77-point win over the Bombers, their biggest win on Anzac Day. Scott Pendlebury, who set the record for most VFL-AFL games, finished with 43 disposals, while Nick Daicos had 42.
Pendlebury, 38, was allowed to roam free for most of the afternoon and managed to work his way through midfield and even win his fourth Anzac Day Medal as he moved forward.
“He’s magnificent, he’s a freak. I think the opposition are disrespecting him, they’re letting him wander around,” Daicos told Fox Footy.
The win boosted the Magpies’ morale in a year when they still hope to challenge for the flag.
“It was a piece of cake today, they absolutely crushed the Bombers. It was just a parade,” AFL great Garry Lyon said on Fox Footy.
