Uber driver Muhammad Usman, then 25, was seriously injured and remained in hospital for two months.

WA Supreme Court Justice Amanda Forrester sentenced the 46-year-old on Tuesday, saying he showed a callous disregard for other road users.

“You stole Elizabeth Pearce’s life from her through your extremely dangerous and reckless behavior,” Judge Forrester said.

“Your car was a powerful weapon that you used as an outlet for your anger and depression.”

Bellinge exceeded 0.183 (almost four times the legal limit) on a roadside blood alcohol test, rising to 0.222 almost two hours later.

Bellinge will be eligible for parole after serving eight and a half years in prison.

His license will be revoked for five years after his release.
