Malkajgiri traffic police book over 1,400 cases for number plate violations

Malkajgiri traffic police detected more than 1,400 cases on Thursday, May 14, 2026, during a special enforcement drive against number plate violations and illegal inscriptions on vehicles across the commissionerate.

According to police, enforcement teams carried out the drive at major intersections and busy areas.

During the drive, police identified 1,468 cases of license plate violations and 26 cases of overwriting of vehicles. A total fine of ₹ 3.37 lakh was imposed on violators.

Authorities said that 87 drivers who repeatedly violated the vehicle filed a criminal complaint for using irregular license plates for the third time and driving without a license plate.

Police teams checked the vehicles for compliance with High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) norms, including proper font, size, spacing and visibility. Vehicles with changed, concealed or non-standard license plates were registered in accordance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Law.

Traffic police said that improper license plates cause difficulties in vehicle detection, especially in inspection and control, and can affect road safety.

Police advised motorists to use only authorized HSRP plates and avoid alterations or decorative alterations. Authorities warned that repeat offenders would face prosecution and court action.

Police said similar drives will continue regularly to ensure compliance with traffic rules and improve road safety across the commissionerate.
