US and Iranian forces are searching for the missing American crew member after the downing of a US warplane.
Iran claims to have shot down two US warplanesan F-15 flying over the southwestern part of the country and a second aircraft participating in a mission to rescue the F-15 crew.
There were two crew members on the F-15 jet. The BBC’s news partner CBS reported that one of the members was rescued, while the other airman was still missing.
According to CBS news, the pilot of the second plane that crashed, an A-10 Warthog, ejected safely over the Gulf and was rescued.
According to Iranian state television, Iran will offer a reward to anyone who captures the missing crew member alive.
It was reported that the US crew encountered an armed attack during the search and rescue operations.
