Cold wave intensifies in Kashmir as night temperatures dip

Cold wave conditions in Kashmir have intensified as night temperatures have dropped in most parts of the valley due to clear skies, meteorological department officials said on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
A layer of fog covered most of the valley, especially the areas around water bodies.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar on Saturday night (November 29) dropped from minus 3.1 degrees Celsius to minus 4.4 degrees Celsius.
Last night’s minimum temperature was slightly above the coldest night of the season recorded in the city, where the mercury fell to minus 4.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday night.
Shopian town in south Kashmir was the coldest place in the valley with a minimum of minus 6.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday night.
A low temperature of minus 3.0 degrees Celsius was recorded in Qazigund, the gateway town to the valley. Mercury settled at minus 5.0 degrees Celsius in Kupwara in north Kashmir.
The minimum temperature in Kokernag in South Kashmir was recorded at minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, officials said.
Pahalgam tourist resort recorded minus 5.6 degrees Celsius and Gulmarg recorded minus 1.4 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological department has predicted mostly dry weather across Kashmir till December 10.
