Focus is on promoting event management sector to boost tourism, says A.P. Minister

Andhra Pradesh said that the Minister of Tourism Kandula Durgesh will benefit from the role of event management in increasing tourism and hospitality of the state government on Saturday
The government will potentially implement policies that support activity planning, organization and management, including infrastructure and skill development investments for the industry. The Minister said that the focal point would be to create an appropriate environment to promote the state as a target for various activities.
Between 1-3 August, Udaipur spoke at Eemagine 2025, the annual activity of the Activity and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) held at the Fairmont Udaipur Palace in Rajasthan.
Mr. Durgesh said the government is determined to encourage the event management industry. Ajay Jain and Amrapali Kata, the senior officials of the department, attended the event.
At a exhibition stop organized by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Company (APTDC), the authorities interacted with several event managers and announced the ‘Swarnandh Tourism Vision 2029’.
Stating that Andhra Pradesh plans to integrate the event management sector into tourism growth strategies, the Minister said that the AP tourism authority has accepted one for events at mega and regional levels and the other under two categories for events at the regional level. Authorized, more than 110 tourism operators have also been employed.
Activity calendar
The Minister said that a calendar was ready to organize eight mega events and 15 regional levels in the state. In order to introduce the event management sector, the International Association of Exhibitions and Activities (IAEE), Professional Congress Management Association (PCMA) and others were partnership with international associations.
Referring to the tourism policy, Mr. DurguSh said that tourism has been the contribution of tourism to the GDP of the state from 4.6% to 8% and to create 2 lakh new businesses, to increase the employment share of tourism from 12% to 15% and to be one of the top 10 states of India for Foreign Tourism.
