Hainault sword attack police officers honoured with bravery award | News

Three Metropolitan Police officers who confronted the Hainault sword attacker have been honored for their extraordinary bravery. Pride of Britain Awards on Thursday, October 23.

On 30 April 2024, Inspector Moloy Campbell, PC Cameron King and PC Yasmin Mechem-Whitfield responded to the incident in Hainault, east London, after Marcus Arduini Monzo, 36, plowed a van into a pedestrian before emerging with a 60cm samurai-style sword.

Monzo then fatally injured 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin, who was on his way to school.

Three police officers confronted the gunman, sustaining two life-changing injuries during their successful effort to stop and arrest Monzo.

His actions earned him the Pride of Britain Award for Outstanding Bravery.
