Bihar polls: Tej Pratap Yadav files nomination papers from Mahua seat

Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav, who was recently expelled from RJD by his father and founding president Lalu Prasad, filed his nomination papers from Mahua assembly constituency in Vaishali district on Thursday.

Tej Pratap, who recently toured political party Janshakti Janta Dal, submitted his documents while carrying a photograph of his late grandmother.

Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination papers, RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap said, “I have worked hard in Mahua… earlier, when I represented the seat, a medical college was sanctioned in the district. Now I promise the people here that if I am elected, I will sanction an engineering college in the district. Also, I will continue to do other development work here.”
He represented the Mahua seat until 2020, when the party shifted him to Hasanpur.

“I filed my nomination papers with the blessings of my late grandmother,” he said, adding that my father used to do the same thing when he was contesting polls.

Janshakti Janta Dal recently released the list of 21 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections. The former Bihar minister was expelled from the party for six years by his father Lalu Prasad on May 25, a day after he reportedly admitted to having an “affair” with a woman. However, he later deleted his Facebook post, claiming that his page had been “hacked”.

Lalu Prasad also rejected Tej Pratap for his “irresponsible behaviour”.

A few days later, after his expulsion from the party, Tej Pratap had alleged that there was a “conspiracy” to create a rift between him and his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav.

He had expressed his feelings in several posts on his X account and blamed the crisis on ‘Jaichand’, a metaphor for traitors.
