JULIE BINDEL: Allowing the Trans Taliban to hound and bully women is shameful

The latest Orwellian incident since the Trans Taliban took over Scotland involves Susan Smith of Women For Scotland (FWS).

He was investigated by Police Scotland for allegedly damaging a rainbow umbrella owned by famous trans activist Tom Harlow, who was a member of Cabaret Scotland Against Hate Speech.

In April, FWS took a case to the Supreme Court that made the UK a better, safer place for women and girls by clearly defining what a woman is.

But now Police Scotland will fine one of these good activists and show how fake Scotland has become.

Harlow, who I have encountered at other demonstrations, was among the crowd protesting the presence of the FWS outside Holyrood last month by playing extremely loud music to drown out what the women were saying.

There’s even a video of Smith approaching Harlow and asking if she could turn the music down, and she responds by shoving her umbrella in her face.

Smith then pushed her away from her face, which, according to Harlow, damaged her umbrella.

As a result, Smith has to go to a police station next week where he will be charged with vandalism. This is a state-sanctioned sentence against Smith. This is a humiliation of the people.

The capitulation of the government and police to these pro-trans bullies shames Scotland.

Wrapped in a rainbow-colored cloak, misogyny has been enshrined in Scottish society by senior public officials.

SNP First Minister John Swinney needs to act now or lose what little faith he has in his government forever. Stop bowing to these trans activists and send a clear message that you run a democracy, not an authoritarian state run by Queer Isis.

As for Police Scotland, Jo Farrell was appointed as the first female Chief Constable last year, but misogyny is still on the rise north of the border.

Until JK Rowling founded and funded Beira’s Place, there was not a single women-only rape and sexual assault support service in the whole of Scotland.

These are the things that I fought to establish as a young feminist in the 1980s, and that Scotland tried to dismantle.

Scotland is a laughing stock. The Susan Smith case will be a gift to Reformation and Labor is nowhere to be seen when it comes to sorting out this mess.

Even those who believe that trans women are women should be appalled by this state-sponsored intimidation from a trans activist backed by a police force that is happy to waste its time and taxpayers’ money.

I know and respect Smith, who represented FWS at the FiLiA conference in Brighton last month, Europe’s largest annual feminist conference.

She was there to receive the Emma Humphreys Memorial Award, given to a woman or group who has undertaken an outstanding campaign against male violence. He received a standing ovation.

Smith and his FWS colleagues should be given medals, not police warnings or court dates.

I can well imagine how Smith felt after this. It doesn’t matter how tough, resilient and brave the women these bullies target are; Being constantly tracked has a terrible impact on our well-being.

I have experienced some very dark moments during the 21 years that trans activists have targeted me.

The Scottish Government, police and other institutions who stand down to protect these sadistic bullies are cowards.

It is a disgrace to the country to allow this aggressive act to instill so much fear and intimidation into women who do nothing but try to protect our basic rights.
