What time is Trump’s State of the Union – and how can I watch? | Trump administration

What will Trump probably talk about?
In 2025, when Trump gave a joint address to Congress, he spoke at length about his efforts to reduce the size of the federal workforce, change U.S. foreign policy and implement a risky trade agenda that includes massive tariffs. In his speech, which lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes, the longest speech in US history, he also touched upon the administrative orders and actions implemented in the first weeks of his second term.
This year, Trump is likely to continue insisting that he is making America great again, even as opinion polls show increasing disapproval on a range of issues. We expect the president to address the issues of tariffs, which were struck down by the Supreme Court last week and reimposed this weekend, as well as a number of other issues such as immigration and foreign policy.
This year’s speech may also take a long time. According to the official schedule of the White House, he is not expected to return to the White House until 23.30.
“I’m going to give a speech tomorrow night, and you’re going to hear me say it,” Trump said at a White House event on Monday. “So it’s going to be a long conversation because we have a lot to talk about.”
What will the Democrats do?
At least one group 12 Democrats will boycott the speech and instead hold an outdoor rally on the National Mall. Chris Van Hollen is also included in this group. in question in a social media post: “Trump is marching America toward fascism and I refuse to normalize his dismantling of our Constitution and democracy. This cannot be business as usual.”
Another event, State of the Swamp, is scheduled for Wednesday night and a number of prominent Democrats and celebrities are expected to attend. Robert De Niro and Mark Ruffalo, both critics of Trump, are set to attend the event organized by Indivisible and other groups.
It is customary for someone from the other party to respond after the address. This year, newly elected Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger will debunk that claim.
In a statement, House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries and his counterpart, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, hailed Spanberger as a public servant with a track record of holding Trump accountable and winning races in competitive districts.
“It’s a stark contrast to Donald Trump, who lied, deflected and blamed everyone but himself for his failed presidency on Tuesday night,” Jeffries said. “As our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary this summer, Governor Spanberger represents the best of America as a mother, community leader and dedicated public servant.
Spanberger said he plans to use the rebuttal to address Americans’ concerns about “rising costs, the chaos in their communities, and the real fear that each day can bring.”
Alex Padilla, a Democrat from California and a vocal critic of the Trump administration’s immigration policies, will rebut this claim in Spanish. Padilla was restrained and removed after he tried to ask questions at Kristi Noem’s press conference in June of last year.
Padilla told the New York Times his remarks would focus on: immigration, economy and fair elections.

Last year, Democrats chose Michigan senator Elissa Slotkin, a centrist with an intelligence background, to present the rebuttal.
