Klopp is also expected to finalize his departure from his current role as Red Bull Group’s global head of football at a meeting with the company’s CEO, Oliver Mintzlaff, in New York early next week. His contract with Red Bull reportedly includes a release clause allowing him to take charge of the Germany national team.
According to the report, the DFB is expected to officially announce the appointment on Saturday.
The move would mark Klopp’s return to coaching for the first time since leaving Liverpool in 2024 after a trophy-laden spell at Anfield.
Klopp will replace Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned following Germany’s surprise elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 after losing to Paraguay. Nagelsmann, 38, took charge of the national team in September 2023 and led Germany to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, where they lost to champion Spain.
