Police in Britain arrest Peter Mandelson, a former ambassador, in probe into Epstein ties

LONDON (AP) — British police on Monday arrested Peter Mandelson, Britain’s former ambassador to the United States, as part of a misconduct investigation stemming from his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
London’s Metropolitan Police force said “officers arrested a 72-year-old man on suspicion of misconduct in public office” at an address in north London. He was taken to the police station for questioning.
In accordance with British police practices, Mandelson’s name was not mentioned, but the suspect in the case was previously identified as a 72-year-old former diplomat.
Police are investigating Mandelson over allegations that he passed sensitive government information to Epstein fifteen years ago. He is not facing any sexual abuse allegations.
