Meghan Markle reveals she plans to spend Christmas Day ‘in pyjamas’ with Prince Harry – after a ‘feast of dim sum’ on Christmas Eve

Meghan Markle gave fans a sneak peek at her family’s Christmas plans in her lifestyle brand As Ever’s newsletter.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, told subscribers how she and Prince Harry keep the ‘morning magic’ of Christmas alive for the couple’s two children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet.

He revealed the Sussexes enjoyed a dim sum ‘feast’ on Christmas Eve before tucking Archie and Lilibet into bed.

Meghan added that she planned to spend Christmas playing board games at their home in Montecito, California, “cuddled up with my family”, and described a day full of “music playing, candles flickering, dogs snoring, endless grazing”.

He concluded his message by wishing the brand’s followers a “Merry Christmas and all the blessings that come with it.”

The full newsletter update read: ‘Last night, I was munching on the remnants of our Christmas Eve feast (dim sum this year), wrapping a few last-minute gifts and tip-toeing with my husband to make sure ‘Santa’ had his cookies and ‘the reindeer’ had his carrots – anything to continue the morning magic of Christmas through our children’s eyes.

‘I plan to spend today cuddling with my family – maybe wearing pajamas all day, playing some Scrabble or Sequence (or Candyland for the kids), music playing, candles flickering, dogs snoring, endless grazing; laughter, sidebars, deep breaths (you know the ones), fun, and memories.

‘I hope you know that whether you’re in your pajamas like us or fully dressed, whether you’re at a large gathering, with your partner, with your children or on your own – wherever you find yourself reading this note today – I wish you a very Merry Christmas and all the blessings that come with it.’

Can Meghan and Harry’s approach to a simple family Christmas really be reconciled, or is it just selective PR?

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, revealed the 16-piece in a video she made in preparation for Christmas, with clips of her cooking, cutting ribbons and wrapping presents.

It comes after Meghan posted the clearest photo yet of Archie and Lilibet in a new family portrait posted on Instagram last week.

The Duchess posted a photo of herself and Harry, 41, with their children, writing, “Happy Holidays!” He shared it with the title: From our family to yours.’

Harry is shown with his hands wrapped protectively around Archie’s head. Father and son look at each other lovingly, both have a smile on their face.

Next to them on a bridge are Meghan and Lilibet. The Duchess leaned down to rest her forehead against her daughter’s as she held both hands.

In the dappled California sun, Lilibet’s face is covered with shoulder-length strawberry blonde hair.

Archie wears jeans with a sweater or cardigan. Her little sister is wearing a light blue dress, long white socks and golden shoes.

The photo was one of a series of carefully choreographed new images of the young prince and princess on Friday.

About two hours ago, the Sussexes posted a ‘Happy Holidays’ video on their website, also featuring the six- and four-year-olds.

In the film, Archie and Lilibet are shown pushing their father to a food cart made to feed the poor in California on Thanksgiving this year, but again, their faces are hidden.

Meghan follows them and their tray of cookies as they dance joyfully at the Our Big Kitchen charity in Los Angeles.

The Sussex couple simultaneously published their own ‘holiday card’, but unlike last year, their children are not included.

Meghan and Harry are seen holding hands and smiling in the snow at the Invictus Games in Canada in February.

It ends with this message: ‘On behalf of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Archewell’s Office, we wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful new year.’

The Sussex film and card emerged as the couple announced their Archewell Foundation would be renamed Archewell Philanthropies, five years after it was founded after Megxit.

In another personal rebrand, the couple said the charity name change was a moment to expand their mission globally with Archie and Lilibet.

This year, the charity advocated for safer digital spaces and the responsible development of artificial intelligence (AI).

It also funded support for children affected by the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.

The Archewell Foundation takes its name from the ancient Greek word ‘arche’, meaning ‘source of action’, and ‘well’, symbolizing ‘an abundant source or supply, a place where we go to dig deep’.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said: ‘This next chapter allows Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to expand their global philanthropic efforts as a family with meaningful reach and maximum impact, based on the same values, partnerships and commitment to showing up and doing good.’

Royal commentator Phil Dampier said of the name change: ‘Archewell Philanthropies? It looks like a chemist’s. They really went crazy. Sorry, they’re even crazier.
