Gautam Adani announces new ropeway to make Kedarnath pilgrimage easier, safer

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Kedarnath temple is located at an altitude of over 11,000 feet in the Himalayas and has immense religious significance.
Meanwhile, Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) said that the Kedarnath Dham portals will be ceremonially closed on October 23 this year for the winter season. The committee told ANI that Badrinath Dham portals will be closed for winter on November 25 this year at 2:56 pm. The date for the ceremonial closure of Badrinath and Kedarnath Dhams has been decided on Vijayadashami.
A grand religious ceremony was held at the Badrinath temple premises in the afternoon to determine the closing date. During the event, Dharmadhikari and Vedic scholars finalized the date based on Panchang calculations in the presence of BKTC officials.
Rawal of Badrinath Dham later officially announced the date of closure of the temple.
The ceremonial turban (Pagdi) of Bhandar Seva for the upcoming 2026 pilgrimage season was also presented at this event.
According to the press release, the program of the traditional Panch Pujas, which will take place before the closing, will also be completed on the same day. Additionally, the auspicious time (muhurat) will be decided for Shri Uddhav Ji and Shri Kuber Ji to leave for Pandukeshwar and proceed to the winter abode of Adi Guru Shankaracharya’s Gaddi and Shri Garud Ji, vehicle of Vishnu, at Narsingh Temple in Jyotirmath.
On this occasion, the date of closing of the portals of the second Kedar, Shri Madmaheshwar Ji, will be decided simultaneously at the Panch Kedar winter seat and the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath (Rudraprayag). Similarly, at Shri Markateshwar Temple, Makkumath (Rudraprayag), the date of closure of the portals of the third Kedar – Shri Tungnath Ji will also be determined.
