Ahmedabad plane crash: 190 victims identified by DNA tests, 159 bodies handed over to kin

An official, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, said last week’s Air India Aircraft accident at least 190 victims of DNA matches and 159 bodies delivered to their families, he said.
The Air India flight of London collapsed in Ahmedabad on June 12, carrying AI-171, 242 passengers and crew members. Except for someone on the plane, they all died with about 29 when the plane entered a medical complex.
Authorities do DNA tests to create the identity of the victims, as many bodies go beyond recognition or damage.

The state government had previously stated that the samples of 250 victims, including the malicious flights and those killed on the ground, were gathered for identity.
