Smoke rises from plane after aircraft crashes into Clacton field | UK | News
There was widespread outcry from 999 after a plane crashed in Clacton on Saturday afternoon. Police officers were called to Clacton Airport at around 12.10am on April 25, where they found a light aircraft crashing into a field with smoke billowing from it.
Fire crews were also informed a few minutes before the incident. It was stated that no one was trapped inside the plane and two people on the small plane had injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Emergency services attended to reports of a collision involving a light aircraft at Clacton Airport.
“We were first called shortly after 12.10pm on Saturday, April 25th.
“Two people on the small two-seater plane were injured, thankfully their injuries are not life-threatening.
“They were treated. Ambulance and fire crews also arrived at the scene.”
Police added that further investigations into the incident will be carried out by the Air Accident Investigation Branch.
A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to Clacton Airport at 12.09am today after a light aircraft crashed into the field.
“There was no fire, only smoke coming out of the plane. There was no one trapped, two people were left in the care of the Ambulance Service and the slightly injured were treated.”
