Chhattisgarh to be free of Maoism before 2026, says CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, expressed confidence that Maoism can be wiped out from the state before the Centre’s March 2026 deadline. On the last day of the two-day Gujarat summit, CM Sai said Maoism had hindered industrial growth in the mineral-rich country for a long time but the situation was improving rapidly. “Chhattisgarh is a mineral-rich state with immense industrial potential. But development has stalled due to Naxalism. In January 2024, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a target to eliminate Naxalism by March 31, 2026. We are succeeding in our mission and many key Maoist leaders have been neutralized. I am confident that Naxalism can end before the deadline,” he said.

Addressing investors from Gujarat, the Prime Minister assured them of full government support. “I urge investors to start their businesses in Chhattisgarh. Our industries department will provide all necessary support,” he added.

During the event, eight Gujarat-based companies signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 33,000 crore with the Chhattisgarh government for proposed investments in various sectors.

Mr. Sai noted that the state has received investment proposals totaling ₹7 lakh crore in the last ten months and similar outreach events are being organized across the country to attract more investments.

Addressing the media, the Prime Minister reiterated that Naxalism is the biggest obstacle to the progress of Chhattisgarh. “We are successfully tackling this challenge under the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi (both sons of Gujarat). Once Naxalism ends, Chhattisgarh will reach new heights in development,” he said.

He also highlighted the government’s rehabilitation efforts for surrendered Naxalites, which included cash incentives, land and housing, as well as provision of basic amenities such as water, electricity and ration cards to their villages.
