Chhattisgarh: NCL OKs new phase of diamond exploration
This development indicates that large-scale scientific drilling will begin in the region, paving the way for commercial diamond mining. Reviewing the current progress of the project, the board directed that all technical activities under the operational research license should be carried out strictly within the stipulated timeline, according to the Chhattisgarh government.
The upcoming large-scale drilling initiative is designed to provide a highly accurate assessment of the region’s diamond-bearing kimberlite pipe. The data collected from this program will result in a detailed feasibility report that will serve as a blueprint for the commercial development of the diamond mine.
NCL is a 51:49 joint venture between NMDC Limited, a central government enterprise, and Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation.
