Women’s Commission Calls for Mandatory POSH Audits at Workplaces

Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Women’s Commission proposed an ineffective implementation of women’s sexual harassment in the workplace (prevention, prohibition and correction), which is commonly known as the POSH law, and compulsory luxury inspections in all offices.
In a video message in X, Rupali Chakankar, the chairman of the commission, said that the internal complaint committees (ICCs) were formed in many workplaces made by the law during their visits throughout the last state.
“There is a serious lack of awareness among the members of the committee about their rights, responsibilities and legal frameworks, which makes female employees feel insecure despite the presence of these committees.” He said.
Chakankar said that to resolve these concerns, the Minister of Commission, the Minister of Women and Child Development, a government decision (GR), a proposal to regulate.
“It should be of the same importance as a luxury control, financial or fire safety audit.” He said.
“Such inspections will not only ensure that workplaces are legally compatible, but also provide a really safe environment for female employees.”
