India-U.S. trade talks: Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal likely to visit Washington soon

Sources are expected to visit Washington soon by the Minister of Union Trade and Industry, with the movement of India-US trade talks in the right direction. PTI.

The visit comes on the grounds of the recent discussions on the recently ending discussions on the proposed bilateral trade agreement between US chief negotiator Brendan Lynch and Indian counterpart Rajesh Agrawal.

The first slice of the pact was planned to be finalized in the autumn of 2025 (October-November). Five rounds have been negotiated so far. The pact aims to double the bilateral trade from the current 191 billion dollars to 2030 to $ 500 billion.

Mr. Goyal visited Washington in May for trade talks. He negotiated with US Trade Secretary Howard Lutnick in Washington.

The US remained the largest trade partner in India for the fourth year in 2024-25, and the bilateral trade was worth $ 131.84 billion (export of $ 86.5 billion). The US constitutes approximately 18% of India’s total exports of goods, 6.22% in imports and 10.73% in the total trade of goods of the country.

Mr. Goyal said that on Thursday, September 18, the trade talks between India and the United States is progressing and progressing in the right direction.
