Election Commission offers tech support, training to global poll authorities
The poll panel made these proposals during bilateral meetings with heads of various election management bodies who attended a conference on democracy and election management here.
Besides offering technical support cooperation to develop technology platforms, the EC has also offered to provide training support to officials of election management bodies (EMBs) through the Indian International Institute of Democracy and Electoral Management (IIIDEM).
While appreciating the digital platform ECINET, EC said in a statement that many EMBs have shown interest in collaborating with India to adopt similar technological solutions in their countries.
It was stated that the bilateral meetings set the tone for high-level global dialogue on the future of democracy and electoral administration.
“This will also advance India’s overarching theme for its International IDEA presidency: ‘Democracy for an inclusive, peaceful, resilient and sustainable world’.”
A wide range of global election experiences and innovations were discussed during bilateral talks. These talks aimed to further strengthen India’s long-standing partnerships in the areas of election administration and democratic cooperation.
While 32 bilateral meetings were held on Thursday, the rest will be held on Friday.
