A chilling new report has claimed that Iran may be preparing mine-carrying dolphins to be deployed in the Strait of Hormuz.

The dolphins will reportedly be deployed with the aim of destroying American warships currently blocking the vital trade route and forcing it to reopen. The Bosphorus has remained closed for months due to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran.

A fragile ceasefire currently holds, but some Iranian hardliners are pushing for a return to real fire, including attacks on ships that form part of the US blockade, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Such action would theoretically cause oil prices to rise and put greater pressure on the President. Donald Trump reach an agreement with the Islamic Republic; Negotiations stalled as both sides explored what they would and would not accept.

On Thursday, Iran’s religious leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a new warning to the United States, declaring that “foreigners who do evil belong in the depths of the water.” The threat was contained in a written statement read aloud by a state television presenter.

Khamenei has not been seen in public since he succeeded his father, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed during Israel’s first attack on Iran on February 28.

Iranian officials have stated that after its navy was almost completely destroyed in American attacks, Tehran could deploy previously unused weapons to target US warships, largely neutralizing it.

It was said that approximately 90 percent of the Iranian navy was destroyed. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened to escalate tensions by cutting telephone cables in the Strait of Hormuz; This was a move that would seriously disrupt global internet traffic. It was warned that submarines and even mine-carrying dolphins could also be deployed.

Semi-official Iranian state news agency Tasnim recently published a map of undersea internet cables passing through the Strait of Hormuz, warning that the region’s telecommunications infrastructure could be a target.

Iran has presented a proposal to regional mediators offering to halt planned attacks in the strait in exchange for a complete end to hostilities, including the lifting of the US blockade of Iranian ports and the shelving of nuclear talks.

Meanwhile, Trump instructed his aides on Monday to prepare plans to extend the blockade, which could remain in place until Iran accepts its nuclear demands.

“The blockade is genius, okay? The blockade was 100% perfect,” he told reporters later in the week, according to the WSJ.

Approximately 44 commercial ships operating on behalf of Iran have been ordered to turn back or return to port, according to U.S. Central Command. Commodity data company Kpler reported that there was no evidence that any Iranian oil cargo had violated the US blockade to reach Chinese customers or other buyers.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently stated that Tehran will look for ways to “neutralize restrictions” on shipping operations.

While Iran expects America to first yield and lift the blockade of Iranian ports in order to stabilize global markets and reduce American oil prices, US officials predict that Iran will collapse first due to the worsening of the economic crisis surrounding the country.
