Public chooses Ctrl Alt Deleaf as name for leaf-clearing train

A leaf extraction train, greeting as an important part of the fleet of Network Rail’s fleet, was called CTRL sub -dirlaaf after the public vote.

Designed to explode the leaf of the fee, the special vehicle will be deployed from Surrey Effingham Junction next week.

The name is PUNS on the computer command control-bottom-detelet.

The UK’s 20,000 miles of railway network claims with approximately 500 billion leaves per year. These cause significant autumn deterioration by sticking to moist rails and squeezing under the train wheels.

The resulting thick, slippery layer, similar to black ice, reduces the grip of the train and can prevent the signal from detecting the presence of a train in the new runway sections.

In October 2021, speed restrictions are applied to reduce accidents such as accidents between two trains outside a tunnel near Salisbury, Wiltshire.
