Emma Raducanu pulls out of US exhibition matches with foot issue

Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from two exhibition matches in the United States next month due to a minor foot problem.

The England number one has minor bone bruising in his right foot, but is able to train and plans to travel to Barcelona for pre-season training soon.

Preparations for next season will be overseen in Spain by coach Francisco Roig, who started working with Raducanu in August.

Raducanu, 23, has spent part of this month training at the National Tennis Center in London and will now be able to focus entirely on the overseas camp.

Not having to play two exhibition games about a month before the start of the new season is one way to take the strain off your feet.

Raducanu also has a new physiotherapist, Emma Stewart, who worked on the WTA Tour before joining British Rowing’s men’s team.

Stewart will participate in some events next year and will also take control of Raducanu’s strength and conditioning program in the short term.
