Warrant issued for Markham man for attempted murder of woman

York Regional Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a suspect after the attempted murder of a woman in Markham.

Cops say on Jan. 21 around 5:30 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Lee Ave. and Noble St.

When they arrived, they located a woman suffering from a gunshot wound and she was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Chao Chen, 35, of Markham, is wanted for attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Investigators are releasing his image and appealing to the public for information on his whereabouts.
Chen is considered armed and dangerous, and if seen, citizens are urged not to approach him but to call police immediately.
The accused is encouraged to seek legal advice and to turn himself in.

Man faces child porn charges
A 58-year-old Toronto man faces child pornography-related charges.
On July 5, as part of an investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse material, Toronto Police executed a search warrant in the Keele St. and St. Clair Ave. West area.
It’s alleged the accused was found to be in possession of child sexual abuse material on his personal electronic devices
On Thursday, Shawn Barry was arrested and charged with two counts each of child pornography and access child pornography and one count of make child pornography.

Two charged in Brampton drug bust
Two Brampton men face drug trafficking and stolen property related charges.
On Wednesday, officers executed a search warrant at a residential address in Brampton and during the search, investigators allegedly recovered a substantial quantity of suspected illicit substances, including heroin and crystal methamphetamine, with an estimated combined street value of over $110,000.
In addition, police allegedly located and seized a large quantity of stolen goods, with a total estimated value of over $54,000.
Parveen Gill, 40, is charged with disobeying a court order, possession of stolen property and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking – crystal methamphetamine and heroin.
Gurpreet Mangat, 26, is charged with failure to comply with a release order, possession of stolen property and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking – crystal methamphetamine and heroin.
