Ryan Gosling on blending humour and sci-fi in new film Project Hail Mary

Taking its name from a finishing touch sometimes made in American football, the film follows Gosling’s Ryland Grace, a science teacher who, under some extraordinary circumstances, finds himself on a spaceship with no memory of how he got there and is tasked with saving the world from sun-eating bacteria.
