Thong swimwear popularity surges on Australian beaches
What’s hot this summer swimsuit-wise?
The greatest pride is in taking over Australia’s beaches and swimming pools; The popularity of G-string thongs instead of feet is increasing. A piece of cloth worn between sculpted hips requires, among other things, plenty of sunscreen, but there are alternatives for those who prefer more protection against boiling sand and concrete.

Invest in color-blocked swimsuits made from quality fabrics that are actually designed for swimming rather than selfies. A well-cut bikini with cropped bottoms can accentuate and even create curves while offering more coverage than a thong.
If you prefer the security of a one-piece, dive into the asymmetry trend with a single-strap design and remember that any nude line can attract the attention of a strapless top the next day.

Keep details to a minimum: we love the stand-out stitching (see Nagnata’s two-piece dress worn with a shirt, pictured), or the single metal buckle, for example. Look to your accessories for color and pattern: a striking towel, bag or sunglasses with bold hues and neon lights that nod to the current ’90s revival. (These also make it much easier to find your place in a sea of navy-and-white striped towels when you return from a refreshing dip.)
Also, follow your swimsuit’s care instructions to ensure longevity. It takes more than just stepping on it while showering to remove chlorine and salt. Instead, hand wash cold with mild soap or a special swimsuit detergent and drip dry in the shade. It takes longer to dry than a G-string, but it’s worth it.
