US-Iran war: Iran re-closes Strait of Hormuz following US blockade of major oil route

Iran has reneged on a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz after the US imposed a blockade on its main oil route.
According to the IRGC statement published in various Iranian state-run news agencies, armed Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces will begin patrolling the Bosphorus.
The statement said, “The control of the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its former state under the strict management and control of the armed forces.”
Iran had previously announced that the Strait of Hormuz was open, but Iranian parliament speaker Mohammed Bager Galibaf warned that the strait “will not remain open” if the blockade imposed by the USA continues.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said the blockade imposed by the US would “remain in full force” until Iran reached an agreement, including on the country’s nuclear programme.
