Azharuddin Calls for Dignity for Imran Khan Amid Health Scare

Hyderabad: Former Indian cricket captain and Congress leader Muhammad Azharuddin on Tuesday expressed deep concern over the health of former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan.
Reacting to reports of Khan’s deteriorating condition, Azharuddin made a heartfelt appeal to social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Addressing the former Pakistan captain as “Imran bhai”, Azharuddin highlighted their shared history on the cricket field and called for the jailed leader to be treated with respect.
“I am very sorry to hear what happened to Imran bhai. Cricket has given us many common moments and as a fellow athlete who has shared the platform and learned from it, I sincerely appeal for him to be treated with dignity,” Azharuddin said.
The former MP, who often faced Khan on the field during tough India-Pakistan encounters in the 1980s and early 90s, touched on the bond of sportsmanship in his message. He concluded his post by praying for Khan’s recovery and his family’s strength, using the trending hashtag #ImranKhanHealthEmergency amid reports of medical crises involving the 73-year-old leader.
Khan, who has been in prison since 2023, has seen his legal and personal situation attract international attention, but support from India’s well-known public figures, especially former cricket rivals, remains rare and significant.
