Energy secretary: White House may alter past climate assessments

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that this week Trump administration plans to review the country’s climatic science reports and change potentially.

He’s in a view on Tuesday CNN’s “source” Wright told CNN server Kaitlan Collins that national climate assessments have been removed from the government websites because we are examining them.

“We will appear with updated reports on these issues and comments on these issues,” he said.

National climatic evaluations were compulsory by the Congress and released five times since 2000. Federal reports prepared by hundreds of volunteer scientists are subject to comprehensive peer examination and details that climate change affects every region of the United States and the latest scientific estimates.

Wright accused the previous reports of being politically prejudiced and stating that “data is not fair assessments”.

“When you enter the departments and look at things that are there and find objectionable things, you want to fix it,” he said.

His statements came after the Trump administration rejected more than 400 experts who started to work on the sixth national climate assessment due to their publication in late 2027 or early 2028. In July, the management also removed the website of the US Global Change Research Program, which contains reports.

The movement points to the latest rise in the efforts of Trump administration to underestimate climate science. In recent months, the President and the Ministry of Energy have advocated fossil fuel production and made financing and incentives for renewable energy projects. This week, the energy department is a Coal image In addition to X, “He is a icon, he’s a legend and that moment.”

Meanwhile, the US Environmental Protection Agency proposed more loose arrangements for pollutant sectors such as power plants and vehicles. EPA manager Lee Zeldin, in March, the management “declared a direct dagger continued The heart of climate change religion. ”

In the CNN view, Wright said that previous climate change assessments, including the 2018 report prepared in Trump’s first period, are not a reasonable representation of wide climatic science.

“They turned to swallow a real issue politically, but a problem that is not close to the world’s greatest challenge,” he said. “Nobody believes that he is outside a reliable economist or scientist, a few activists and alarmists.”

Environmental experts were worried about Wright’s comments.

“Secretary Wright confirmed our worst fears – this administration plans not only to bury scientific evidence, but also to give up responsibility for it to underestimate and disdain the worsening climate crisis,”.

“This is a more worrying example of the ongoing and highly politicized effort to hide the scientific reality to further advance the dangerous and deadly fossil fuel agenda of Trump administration, Cle Cleetus said.

Energy department last week Climate ReportHe questions the seriousness of climate change assigned by Wright.

“Both models and experiences [carbon dioxide]The induced heating can cause less harm than economically believed, and excessive aggressive reduction policies can be more harmful than being useful. ”

California University Agriculture and Natural Resources and Climate Scientist Daniel Swain, Send it to x The previous national climatic evaluations were written by hundreds of scientists who lead field experts in their fields.

“This will mark an extraordinary, unprecedented and anxious level of intervention, which is a historically fair and systematic process, Swain said, Swain said.

The Ministry of Energy did not respond immediately to a request for a comment.
