The fourth lane of the highway was reopened to clear traffic, according to a statement from the fire department.

An updated statement on the website said: “Lane four has reopened to restore traffic flow.

“North West Ambulance Service is at the scene and is treating a casualty. Firefighters are monitoring the burning vehicle with a thermal imaging camera.”
