Wife discovers her husband had HIV for decade after being told pills were for liver problem

The couple met in 2011 and the husband did not inform his wife even after learning about her HIV status.
A shocking statement emerged from China’s Yunnan Province; It shook a family and raised serious questions about love and trust. A local woman had been giving red pills for 10 years to her husband, whom she believed had serious liver disease.
In December 2021, the husband was sentenced to prison for operating an illegal casino. The woman who asked for HIV (AIDS) medicine for her husband during the visit was shocked. It was revealed that he was diagnosed with HIV in 2011, but hid this information from his future wife even after being married for ten years.
The couple met in 2011 and the husband did not inform his wife even after learning about her HIV status. They got married soon after. When her husband started taking pills after marriage, he lied to his wife, saying they were for a liver problem. His wife, who trusted him completely, took the red pills every day for ten years.
The woman thought: “I never thought these pills were for AIDS. He always said they were for his liver, and I believed him.”
Koca defended his actions in prison, saying his ongoing treatment had kept the virus under control and reduced the risk of infection. However, his wife was not sure about his explanation. She was worried that she might have been infected during unprotected sexual intercourse in the early years of marriage. After this statement, his wife immediately took an HIV test and the result was negative. But the moral pain was great.
“During the test, I was terrified, thinking about the possible consequences. I spent sleepless nights. We lived together for years without taking any precautions. There was no guarantee that I would not get sick.”
The woman took legal action against her husband to overcome this trauma. He filed for annulment, alleging fraud and infidelity. The Yunnan court ruled in her favor, declaring the marriage invalid. The court emphasized that his wife’s cheating not only damaged the trust in the marriage but also seriously endangered his health.
