Women’s Groups Protest Telugu Film Prabhutva Sarai Dukanam Over Vulgar Content

A new controversy has arisen regarding the upcoming Telugu film “Prabhutva Sarai Dukanam” It was written and directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Narasimha Nandi. Produced by Daiva Naresh Gowda and Parigi Sravanthi Mallik, produced by SVS Productions and Sreenidhi Cinemas, the teaser of the film triggered public outrage for allegedly containing obscene dialogues and portraying Telangana women in a derogatory manner.
There are also representatives of many women’s associations among them. Mahila SamaikhyaOn Tuesday, he met Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce General Secretary Damodar Prasad and submitted a written complaint demanding an immediate halt to the release of the film.
Deepa Devi, representative of Mahila Samaikhya, said, “The trailer contains vulgar and derogatory dialogues spoken in Telangana dialect against women. It misrepresents the way Telangana women speak and degrades our culture. If the film is released, we will protest and even lay siege to the Censor Board office.”
Another member Neeraja said, “Film production standards are declining. Such content in the name of entertainment insults the identity of Telangana and sends the wrong message to the youth. We will not allow the screening of this film.”
Dhanamma, who joined the delegation, added: “Telangana women are known for their dignity and worth. The language used in this film is obscene. We demand that the film be stopped immediately, otherwise we will intensify our protest.”
The delegation, comprising Deepa Devi, Padma, Neeraja, Dhanamma, Chandramma and Naseema, urged the Film Chamber to take strict action against the makers of the film and ensure that the film is not released in theatres.
