Palantir CEO Alex Karp defended his support for President Donald Trump against his critics in an exclusive interview on “The Claman Countdown” on Thursday.

“I really support the president’s border and national security thing,” Karp said. “Those are the only two things I really focus on.”

Karp’s defense of his support for Trump comes ahead of a new book about the tech leader and Palantir, expected to be published Nov. 4. Axios traces how the book, written by journalist Michael Steinberger, transformed Karp from a progressive approach to, in his words, “full MAGA.”

“[Trump] Karp stated that he was actually a president of peace. “The idea at Palantir, and what I’m very supportive of, is, you know, you want to be strong enough that there are no wars. Wars are really, really bad.”

He explained why he remained hopeful of a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, despite warnings that it would “cost” many lives.

“As we see, the president is fully involved,” Karp said. “But I’m proud that we were able to support [the Ukrainians]. And they are very, very tough people. “I think they’ll keep fighting until they reach something they feel they can accept.”

President Trump canceled the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was expected to be held in Budapest, Hungary, because he did not see sufficient progress towards peace. However, the White House said that the possibility of holding a summit in the future was not ruled out.

While Trump and Putin spoke on the phone on October 16, plans for the meeting were canceled after Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday.
