Bill Clinton says White House is using him as scapegoat after Epstein files release | Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton’s spokesman late Friday accused the White House of using him as a scapegoat after photos of the former president with convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as a young woman in a pool, were included under a congressional order to release government files.
“The White House not only kept these files for months, but only distributed them late Friday to protect Bill Clinton.” The spokesperson said the following in his statement about X.
“This is about protecting themselves from what’s coming, or what they’ll try to hide forever. So they can post grainy over-20 photos all they want, but this isn’t about Bill Clinton. It never was, it never will be,” he added in the statement.
The article continued: “Even Susie Wiles said Donald Trump was wrong about Bill Clinton.” He continued, citing comments the White House chief of staff made to Vanity Fair in which Wiles acknowledged Clinton was not on Epstein’s Caribbean island despite Trump’s repeated claims to the contrary.
Clinton has long maintained that she cut ties with Epstein around 2005, before he pleaded guilty to charges of sexually abusing a minor in Florida.
Clinton spokesman Angel Ureña said in a statement: “There are two types of people here. The first group knew nothing and blocked Epstein’s way before his crimes were revealed. The second group continued their relationship with him afterward. We are in the first. No amount of stalling by the people in the second group will change that. Everyone, especially MAGA, is demanding answers, not scapegoats.”
Photos released Friday show Clinton with Maxwell and a woman with facial features in an underground swimming pool, on a plane with Michael Jackson and Diana Ross, and at a dinner with Mick Jagger, Epstein and other public figures.
Clinton’s photo in the swimming pool was taken later Published on X “Oh my God!” by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. with the title and a red-faced emoji.
“Slick Willy! @BillClinton just having fun without a care in the world. Little did he know…” White House communications director Steven Cheung said. sent to x.
According to White House visitor records reported in the news, Epstein visited the White House at least 17 times in the early years of Clinton’s presidency. Later, in the years after he left office in 2001, he traveled with Epstein on the financier’s private jet, including to Asia and Africa, on trips related to the Clinton Global Initiative. Clinton was never formally charged with any crimes in connection with Epstein.
But Trump has repeatedly hinted at the relationship between Clinton and Epstein. Last month, he called for the justice department and the FBI to “investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton” as part of a long-running campaign to characterize the Epstein scandal as an issue uniquely tied to Democrats.
The Justice Department photo dump comes as both Bill Clinton and former secretary of state and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton are scheduled to testify to the House oversight committee about their ties to Epstein.
Testimony originally scheduled for last week was postponed until January 13 and 14. Committee chairman James Comer threatened to file a contempt lawsuit if the couple did not attend the deposition on these dates. Politico reported.
