Man arrested after stabbing in western Sydney leaves one dead and two critically injured | Australia news

A man has been detained after three people were stabbed near a train station in Sydney’s west, leaving one dead.

Police responded to reports of a stabbing in Merrylands at around 10am on Tuesday.

A man was said to have fled on foot after stabbing multiple people.

While medical teams responded to 3 people at the scene, it was determined that 1 of them died.

The other two injured people, who were in serious condition, were taken to hospital.

Police have not officially identified the deceased and have not released any identifying information about any of the victims.

Police said a man was arrested shortly before 11 a.m. and taken to the nearby Granville police station.

The man was arrested in Smythe Street, Merrylands.
