Meghan Markle is reportedly “trying to launch” a Netflix rival after a string of failures. Sources in Hollywood say there has been “a lot of chatter” at Amazon after Meghan was said to be trying to “professionally convince” billionaire mogul Jeff Bezos.
This comes as Meghan prepares to release a Christmas special. With love, Meghan next month – she returned to the acting arena earlier this month as she was spotted on the set of her upcoming Amazon MGM Studio film Close Your Personal Friends. In the film, the 44-year-old actor will take on a cameo role as himself. The former royal staffer previously gained star power as an actress in US drama Suits but left the role after getting engaged to Prince Harry in 2017.
A source at rival studio Disney told The Mail on Sunday: On Meghan, described as a “shrewd businesswoman”: “…People wonder why Meghan appears to be courting Jeff Bezos professionally, but to be brutally honest, who can blame her? [Bezos] “He is one of the few people who has all the money in the world and can finance his future projects.”
Meghan, a source at William Morris Endeavor (WME), Hollywood’s top talent agency, which represents her, also told the publication: “The Duchess is a smart businesswoman and is very much in control of her career and where it goes.”
“Sure, people talk about her connection to Jeff Bezos and her choice to star in an Amazon movie, but there are very few big players in town and she has two: Netflix and Amazon. She’s a shrewd businesswoman. It’s your responsibility to underestimate her.”
