Zara McDermott reveals she has had her jaw filler dissolved and says she feels ‘sad’ about past insecurities as she urges others to ‘find ways to love yourself naturally’

Zara McDermott revealed that her chin filler had dissolved while opening up about her past insecurities in an update on Friday.

The 29-year-old TV star admitted that ‘looking back’ makes her ‘sad’ and urged others to ‘find ways to love yourself naturally’.

Speaking in her latest YouTube vlog, Zara opened up about her tweak-filled journey and how she felt like she didn’t ‘quite fit’ beauty standards.

It started like this: ‘I really wanted some of my chin filler to melt away. For context, I started getting some chin fillers when I was 20 and didn’t know much about it.

‘You can have these insecurities when you’re young. And when I was 20 or 21, I went to the injector.

‘He basically talked to me about doing some profile balancing and I got into all of that when I was in my early twenties.’

Zara continued: ‘I’ve done this for a few years and the problem is that the filler doesn’t actually melt away from your face as quickly as you might think.

‘I thought: ‘I need to add in a year when I should be adding in a year. Anyway, I feel like I have too much filler and too much volume left in my face.

‘No more chin fillers. I forgot how this part of my body felt naturally. I wish I hadn’t insisted on taking all these supplements.

‘My face has literally completely changed since my early twenties. It definitely hasn’t aged well for me as I’ve gotten older.

‘What I will say about any cosmetic treatment is that it is very important to love yourself first and foremost, before you start finding ways to love yourself artificially.

‘So I guess when I look back I don’t think I wanted to have any surgery or change my face because I didn’t feel like I quite fit into other standards of beauty. And I’m sorry about that.

‘I feel really sad that this is a feeling that I have, and I also feel sad that I’m trying to change and adapt myself to being someone else.

‘Do not undergo cosmetic corrections and treatments while your face is not yet fully mature. Just wait and think and really take your time.’

'I couldn't remember what I looked like without it, which was a scary concept.

‘I couldn’t remember what I looked like without it, which was a scary concept. “So I can tell everyone that this is a big lesson and I’m the reason why I’m sharing it,” he concluded.

Zara added: ‘While I’m in my early 20s, I’d say I’m still a teenager in terms of mentality. I was impulsive and definitely couldn’t think things through in my early twenties.

‘I’m almost 10 years older now. I’m much more measured. I am much more thoughtful. I am much more empathetic and understanding of myself. I know myself better.

‘So I think the most important thing is to make time for these things because it can create a bit of a snowball effect and become a bit of a lifeline for people and people think that you have to change yourself physically to love yourself and accept yourself.

‘What I’ve learned realistically is the fact that you can change it as much as you want, but if you don’t feel valued and you don’t feel like you have unconditional love and self-acceptance for yourself, then none of that makes a difference when you look in the mirror.

‘Unfortunately with this negative mindset about yourself, you will always constantly want to change things and it will never be enough.

‘I am not against anyone doing whatever they want with their body or face. I’m very liberal, you know. I don’t judge anyone.

‘I couldn’t remember what I looked like without it, which was a scary concept. So I would say to anyone that that’s a big lesson and the reason I share it is I really hope that I can help someone rethink going down that path if they’re not doing it for the right reasons.’
