Buyers urged to be vigilant while buying gold

Legal Metrology department Deputy Controller B. Manohar on Thursday (January 1) asked consumers to be careful while buying gold from stores in an environment where the price of the yellow metal is increasing rapidly.
To talk HinduHe said the ministry has directed all shops to use electronic weighing machines that show deviation of only one milligram while weighing gold. He said consumers should insist on the exclusion of the weight of precious stones as they cost less than gold jewellery.
Mr. Manohar said the department conducts regular inspections at gold shops, petrol depots, fertilizer shops and other places. He said between April and November, 1,612 cases were recorded and ₹68.6 lakh was collected from traders as compound fee. Deputy Controller of the department PV Ranga Reddy and other officials have been advised to conduct inspections in all areas of Vizianagaram district to ensure that traders comply with the rules and regulations.
