Jonathan Rowe: From England mascot to England Under 21s matchwinner

Rowe, Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell and Genoa’s Brooke Norton Cuffy, together with the U21 Euro squad to play club football abroad. Jobe Bellingham, Dortmund, was initially chosen in the squad.

But he walked away for Rowe.

Rowe, “Personally, it was difficult for me, the whole season was difficult.” He said. “The change from Norwich, who was a key player in the team and then came here, was a great challenge with the expectation of realizing.

“I embraced him and it was difficult. I stayed out of the beginning XI many times and impressed me a little, I think everyone could see it. I still continued and this is the main thing.

“Even though I had fallen some days, I had to look at the bigger picture, so we have a target as a collective team, and I have to do as much as possible.”
