British couple held for months by Taliban released from prison

An official with the knowledge of the case said that a British couple detained by the Taliban in Afghanistan for about eight months were released.
80 -year -old Peter Reynolds and his 76 -year -old wife Barbie, who has been living in the country for about twenty years, was kept after being stopped while traveling home on February 1st.
The authority said the couple was released through Qatar mediation after being transferred to a larger prison from Kabul’s central prison in the final stage of the negotiations.
A Qatar official said that although he had a long -term house in Bamiyan province in Afghanistan, the couple would fly to Qatar for medical controls before going to England.
He follows the public lobbying for months by their families to be released.
