The arguments Labor is using to support its FOI reform

The list of talking points in Labour’s bill to limit Australia’s freedom of information (FOI) system focuses on two main arguments:
reforms FOI Act Labor says time limits and enforcement of application fees are necessary, including due to the risk that AI will be misused to create FOI requests and that foreign rivals may try to exploit the system.
Although Rowland was armed with the same arguments when she introduced the bill last month, her office was unable to provide examples of allegations made by foreign actors at the time.
